EWB-Bangladesh has finished WASH – Slum sanitary latrine in Rajshahi city, Bangladesh. The people live on the bank of Padma River slum with unhygienic environment. Wastewater is directly discharged into river. While our journey in Myanmar, we just start our story in Yangon Urban Sum to provide repair services to Monastic School in Hlaingtharyar township.'

Myplace Boarding home, located near Dagon Township, Yangon in Myanmar, dedicated to transforming the lives of the most disadvantaged and at-risk children by a variety of initiatives.

EWB-HK would like to engage more volunteers and students to provide quality education to My Place chidlrens during school suspension in Myanmar. 6 Pilot classes will be conducted online on June to July 2020 in theme namely, Coding, Logistic Logics, Maths with Graphical Arts, Sustainability and WASH.

Afterwards we will keep online class to My Place on weekend twice per month.

EWB-HK Overseas Mission Trip to Myanmar Yangon April 2020 (Cancellation due to COVID-19)

In 2020, we will organize mission trip in small group to Yangon in late April and then Global Citizenship Program service trip with students in June. Both trip welcome your application to be our volunteers and trip organizing committee. If you have any idea and interest, please kindly feel free to contact me or join to be one of us to deliver our mission.

Date: 29-April to 3-May 2020 (5 days 4 night tentatively)  

Trip Itinerary: 
1) Training program for local boarding home
2) Preparation for our local service in mid of June to urban slum monastic school and boarding home
3) Understand local rural life  and Yangon's city civilization

Trip Fee: ~ HKD$4500 (Itinerary and trip arrangement to be planned together, exclude excursion fee and visa)

Delegation to Habitat for Humanity Asia-Pacific Housing Forum

Donation Support to Building a Preschool for Disadvantaged Children in Cambodia

We are working with Aide et Action (Hong Kong) to build schools and community center facilities in Kandal Province in Cambodia (about 2 hours drive from Phnom Penh). Our voluntary engineers have already completed the site visit in October 2017 and designed the engineering drawings responding to local needs. Local construction workers will be hired to build schools, in order to provide local employment opportunities and create a win-win situation.

荔枝窩兩個工程項目的前期策劃及現場視察活動: 招募義務工程師 Recruitment of Pro Bono Engineers for 2 projects in Lai Chi Wo, Hong Kong: Planning Stage and Site Visit

現正招募義務工程師加入香港項目委員會 (Hong Kong Projects Committee)的新項目,一同參與兩項分別位於荔枝窩村毗鄰的河道以及附近的小灘石牆的前期策劃及現場視察活動。首次活動將進行現場視察,了解需要進行工程服務的範圍和現況,以配合籌劃以下兩項工程:

1. 與香港鄉郊基金合作,現場視察荔枝窩村河道的堵塞情況,籌劃透過清理河道的工程,改善在雨季河道氾濫的情況,從而促進農地複耕。
2.  與環保署合作,到現場視察因颱風山竹對荔枝窩一段近岸石板路徑及鄉郊舊石牆的損壞作出評估,籌劃透過傳統砌石方法回復原貌。

是次荔枝窩現場視察的主要工作:
1. 由香港項目委員會帶領下, 進行現場視察;
2. 透過現場視察,日後項目會議等,以籌劃工程範圍及時間表,並考慮施工方法、安全及工程相關的問題;
3. 分享工程相關知識和經驗

荔枝窩現場視察的詳情:

Gabion Wall Construction in Myanmar Tachileik

Doves Children’s Home is located in Tachileik, Myanmar housing children in poverty. As it is built beside the river bank, the children’s quarter is often bombarded by the flooding water during the April to September rainy months. Teachers use different kinds of method to protect Doves Hostels from damage of flooding on the river embankment but in vain. Sowers Action and EWB Hong Kong are gathering devoted volunteers to build a Gabion wall on this service trip to mitigate the flooding hazard before onset of rainy season. Recruitment of Waste Management Task Force for Engineering Services to Sustainable Community

Waste Management for our Sustainable Community and Improving our living environment on land and below water. We are developing this Taskforce team for buildup professional pools to identify the risk and challenges faced by the disadvantaged communities in HK and Overseas, helping on waste management awareness education and professional advisory services on waste management and recycling to develop a resilient and sustainable society.

To Support the development of our engineering-based social services projects for the disadvantaged communities in Hong Kong and South East Asia, we are planning to set up a taskforce relating to waste management. We are now looking for pro bono professionals as our volunteers.

Major Tasks:
1. Identify risks and challenges of current waste management system in HK and South East Asia
2. Knowledge Sharing to the pro bono project teams for both HK and overseas service projects
3. Other relevant tasks agreed by the Task Force;
