During the meeting, Susanna introduced the establishment and operation of EWB. David described in some length our repair works to the building of Chan Yin Temple Primary School in Dong Pei Village, Gan Zi County of Sichuan Province in July this year. Rotaract Club of Kowloon West showed interest in such projects, but expected the target place could be nearer Hong Kong. The Council appealed to all sectors to participate in the public discussion, including professional groups, green groups, property developers, academia, and the end users – the property owners and tenants. This is the key to making this exercise a success, in terms of both the process itself and the outcomes it would bring about. </p><p>The issues being examined in the public engagement exercise are as follows:</p><ul><li>How to achieve sustainable design in terms of building separation, setback from narrow streets, and greenery;</li><li>How to balance the need for essential, green and amenity features of buildings against the increase in building height and size that they create; and</li><li>How to improve energy efficiency of buildings through more effective and sustainable building design.</li></ul><div style="text-align: justify">As one of the professional associations in Hong Kong, EWB would like to contribute to the “Building Design & a quality sustainable built environment” program. David described in some length our repair works to the building of Chan Yin Temple Primary School in Dong Pei Village, Gan Zi County of Sichuan Province in July this year. Rotaract Club of Kowloon West showed interest in such projects, but expected the target place could be nearer Hong Kong. The Council appealed to all sectors to participate in the public discussion, including professional groups, green groups, property developers, academia, and the end users – the property owners and tenants. This is the key to making this exercise a success, in terms of both the process itself and the outcomes it would bring about. </p><p>The issues being examined in the public engagement exercise are as follows:</p><ul><li>How to achieve sustainable design in terms of building separation, setback from narrow streets, and greenery;</li><li>How to balance the need for essential, green and amenity features of buildings against the increase in building height and size that they create; and</li><li>How to improve energy efficiency of buildings through more effective and sustainable building design.</li></ul><div style="text-align: justify">As one of the professional associations in Hong Kong, EWB would like to contribute to the “Building Design & a quality sustainable built environment” program.
