Frequently asked questions concerning "Register of Humanitarian Engineers & Professionals":

I am not in the engineering profession, but I am a professional in other areas, which I believe I could contribute in the relief work of EWB-HK, can I register to the "Register of Humanitarian Engineers & Professionals"?
I do not have voluntary work experiences, can I register?
I am an experienced professional or worker in my field, but I haven't got any Professional qualifications, can I register too?
I am a student or a recent graduate in a professional area, but have not yet obtained any professional qualification in my field, can I register?

I am not in the engineering profession, but I am a professional in other areas, which I believe I could contribute in the relief work of EWB-HK, can I register to the "Register of Humanitarian Engineers & Professionals"?

Reconstruction work certainly requires many types of expertise in addition to engineering. Despite its name, EWB-HK is designed for all professionals in the building industry, including architects, surveyors, builders and other personnel of technical competence. Although we cannot estimate accurately what type of personnel or expertise will be required, we recommend you fill in your personal details into the Registration form of "Register of Humanitarian Engineers & Professionals", so that we may call upon your service when needs arise.

I do not have voluntary work experiences, can I register?

Supporting disaster relief or reconstruction work in an unfamiliar environment is a challenging task. It requires an enhanced technical supports even for experienced professionals. Hence, one of the objectives of EWB-HK is to build up the capacity and skills of Hong Kong professionals in responding to the needs of disaster-stricken community such as those in Sichuan. However, even if you have no voluntary services experience, we still recommend you fill in the registration form of "Register of Humanitarian Engineers & Professionals". You may be offered with training sessions prior to an assignment, or be led by an experienced member to make sure that you can fulfill your expected role.

I am an experienced professional or worker in my field, but I haven't got any Professional qualifications, can I register too?

In most of the assignments, professional experience and skills are of paramount importance. Professional qualification is usually not the pre-requisite. Although we cannot estimate accurately what type of personnel or expertise will be required, we still recommend you fill in the registration form of “Register of Humanitarian Engineers & Professionals” so that we may call upon your service when needs arise.

I am a student or a recent graduate in a professional area, but have not yet obtained any professional qualification in my field, can I register?

Reconstruction project may last for a long period. There will be a variety of needs which cannot be foreseen at this stage. Some may require volunteers with considerable experience and some may not. Although we cannot estimate accurately what type of personnel or expertise will be required, we still recommend you fill in the registration form of "Register of Humanitarian Engineers & Professionals", so that we may call upon your service when needs arise.
