Engineers Without Borders - Hong Kong (EWB-HK) is an independent humanitarian organisation established at the wake of the Sichuan 512 Earthquake. We are a Hong Kong based non-political, non-governmental and non-profit making organization.
We strive to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness in the deployment of resources when assisting disaster-stricken and impoverished communities. We aim to enhance the capacity of Hong Kong’s practising and young professionals in responding to the needs of these communities.
Everybody who supports the mission of EWB-HK is welcome to join us as EWB-HK member.
Engineers, architects, surveyors, planners, builders and other built environment professionals who are prepared to serve as volunteers for disaster-struck or disadvantaged communities are also invited to sign up in our "Register of Humanitarian Engineers and Professionals".
We are prepared to offer engineering and professional supports to any charitable bodies engaged in humanitarian work. Please contact us to join our network of Organizational Partnerships.
The first EWB-HK site assessment team has just completed its mission in Sichuan. We are now planning a number of specific reconstruction projects and more professionals are needed in these initiatives.
In order to enhance our efficiency, an inaugural meeting was convened on June 7. During the meeting, the constitution was adopted and the Board of Councillors containing 19 councillors were elected. We have also completed our registration procedures under the Societies Ordinance. On June 15, we conducted the inauguration ceremony and press conference. The EWB-HK is now formally established.
